Intel is reported to laid off 15,000 people, economists increased the probability of a

recession, and Girls in Tech, a large woman in tech nonprofit shut down. But like our girl Glo said, at the end of the day, the day is going to end. Translation: Things are uncertain, but we'll get through it, and at Tech by Choice, we'll do it together. So, let's get into this week's breakdown!

• ​Intel is talking about laying off 15,000 people to try to reduce spending to gain more profits, which is a wild turn of events because in the early 2010s, Intel was unstoppable
• ​Girls in Tech closes after 17 years due to lack of funding from their experiences from 2023 - 2024. This isn't the first women focused tech community that's gone down, but this isn't a trend showing us how hard it is for nonprofits right now, making us 10x more grateful that you selected us to be a part of your tech journey.
• Tech is tackling the loneliness epidemic with the recent launch of Friend.com, which is basically an AI chatbot necklace that interacts with the world around you. This launch raised a lot of questions, mostly around the fact that the team spent $1.8 million on a domain out of a 2.5 million raise. You might be thinking, well, they have enough in the back to bring this product to market, right? The short answer to that is no because they spent the rest of the money of a marketing. Interesting moves for a new startup, and it will be interesting to see what they do next.
